I'm Jane, 27 years old, currently living and working in Taiwan since 2023. Before Taiwan, I spent the past five years living and working in Thailand. I've traveled solo mostly in Asia. I'm an independent, eldest sibling with strong family ties. Since working abroad, I managed to buy several land in the Philippines and hope to build a retirement resort near the beach, an apartment for rental, and maybe a house. I'm practical, but that doesn't mean I don't like nice things and being spoiled. Although I've started investing in myself, a big part of it is for my family. Even though my family isn't very large and doesn't depend on me financially, I still want us to have the best in life that we haven't had before. So, I hope you don't expect me to be rich, but that you'll be proactive and supportive in helping me achieve my dreams if we decide to move forward together. Despite being a strong, independent woman, I still want to be treated and spoiled as a girl. Growing up without luxuries, I longed to experience them, especially when given by my partner. I don't like to demand anything from my man, but I appreciate it when he is thoughtful and takes the initiative to make me happy. I love to travel, and while I haven't been able to afford trips to expensive countries, I hope my man can make that dream come true. The more I feel loved, cared for, appreciated, and given to, the more I can give back, and I believe this is true for all women. That's why there's a saying: the man brings food to the table, and the woman turns it into a meal.

Before anything else, let me start by saying that I will pursue a career in the Philippines with my law degree. That being said, I do not have any plans to relocate to another country. Visits to your home country are okay though, but I'm not really keen on uprooting when I can have a career and a good life in the Philippines. (Posting this so that you won't have to waste your time reading my profile.) 1. I OWN HUNDREDS OF BOOKS. I need book space more than I need closet space. I can stay at the library (or a bookstore) for hours and will never get bored. You'll see me sniffing a book with eyes closed, the scent reminding me of chocolate and coffee, a hint of vanilla, and sometimes earthy and musky. This is probably the way book nerds get high. I like my books to look like a well-worn shirt. We have a mini library at home that remains to be organized. I own probably close to a thousand books and I have probably read 85%. I often carry a book with me to keep me out of boredom. Waiting in line at the bank? Reads a book. One hour bus ride to another town? Reads a book. Waiting for a friend, or a date? Reads a book. I admit, I kinda am a nerd. I want to own a bookstore and a coffee shop next to my law office one day. 2. MY FAVORITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL WAS ARCHAEOLOGY. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences major in Social Anthropology and minor in Political Science and I have always been deeply fascinated by Archaeology, ancient structures, prehistoric monuments, ruins, and the different cultures around the world. The ancient Thera on the Greek Island of Santorini, the Moai statues, the Angkor Wat of the Khmer Empire, the Stonehenge, Petra, the ruins of Pompeii, the Colosseum, the Chichén Itzá in Mexico, and the Great Pyramids - oh the places I want to visit! My favorite field trip as a student was when we went to see the Opdas Mass Burial Cave in Kabayan, Benguet, and also went to see the red mummies in the same location. It was fascinating! I can still remember the pile of bones in the cave and the mummified cat. My love for museums stems from my love for ancient history. 3. I ENROLLED IN LAW SCHOOL AT AGE 34. I was supposed to enroll in law school after getting my bachelor's degree but life happened. I had my son early. Years went by and I was very unhappy with my career and what my future looks like in general. I chanced upon an article on Facebook about the Philippine Law School Admission Test. I applied, took the test, and luckily passed although I was close to tears while answering the quantitative part. Math was never my strong suit. But I finished 4 years of law school and now I'm just waiting for the BAR Exam results which will be out this December 2024. You're probably wondering why I went to law school when my 1st love was Archaeology. I ask myself that one too often too. I remember taking a break from my Taxation Law review (which I really really really suck at) and opened Netflix. I chanced upon the documentary on Homo naledi (a new discovery). I understood every jargon and methodology, and I was crying watching a naledi making a primitive weapon! I began to question myself if I really wanted to pursue law. But here I am, ain't I? 4. I SUCK AT VIDEOKE/KARAOKE. Filipinos are known worldwide to be great singers. I am not one of them. Probably because I'm not confident with my vocals. But another interesting fact about me is that I sing Disney soundtracks really well. I can sing Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World" and Aladdin's "A Whole New World" like a Disney Princess lol I just don't like singing in front of an audience. Even alcohol won't convince me to sing open mic. 5. I GREW UP A FEW METERS FROM THE BEACH (BUT NEVER LEARNED HOW TO SWIM). Growing up, we always have Sunday breakfast by the beach. But that definitely was not enough for me to try to learn how to swim. In the Philippines and during my time, swimming lessons were not very popular, unlike today. I was content sitting where the waves hit the shore. Now that I'm an adult, I really want to learn deep diving. Maybe soon, when life is a little less busy. The beach is just a 1-minute walk from our house. I love late afternoon walks by the beach and I am lucky enough to enjoy the most stunning sunsets whenever I want. Nowadays, when I do my afternoon walks, I find comfort in feeling the sea breeze in my hair. There is something liberating about the sound of the waves and the whispers of the wind by the sea as the sun sets. When I get my heart broken, when I feel lonely or troubled, when I need time to myself, the beach is my go to place, and walking with sand on my feet gives me a moment of calmness and peace. 6. I AM AN AMBIVERT (AMONG OTHER THINGS) I enjoy being surrounded by happy people and good conversations. Undress my mind before you tear up my clothes or something like that. Intelligent conversations excite me, but sometimes I also prefer companionable silence. The time when it's the soul that speaks and listens. My 19y/o says I'm introverted. My son and I were talking about how I enjoy the company of other people but only up to a certain point. After a few hours, I just want to go home and be alone. Like my social battery can only take so much. He said it's a classic case of introvert. But what do I know? It is true though, I value my alone time. I can eat at a restaurant all by myself, go see a movie alone, or travel somewhere else alone. I like my own thoughts and I value silence and peace. But do I want companionship? ABSOF*CKINGLUTELY. I am not confrontational and sometimes I just tend to cry out of anger and frustration. I am very far from perfect. I am stubborn (my 72y/o Dad says so until now). But people say I have a lot of patience. I can thank my charming, 19-year-old son for that. I love him to pieces. Yes, I am a single mom. But my kid grew up in a house filled with love, lots of hugs, and words of wisdom. 7. I AM A ROMANTIC AT HEART. Quality time, words of affirmation, physical touch, and acts of service are my love languages. I am not the "give me gifts" type of lady but flowers will always win me over. I will never get tired of saying I love you, to drive safe, to get some food, or to sleep in - words that will always mean that I care about you deeply. To me, dating and love do not happen overnight. You give it time to bloom. You give it a chance to grow. If you cut it before it blossoms, you might be missing one great love. To me, relationships are to be nurtured. You don't give up easily. And to love a person is an everyday choice. If you find a person you can see a future with, give it a chance. You do not give up easily. 8. I AM SMARTER THAN BEAUTIFUL (YES I SAID THAT) I unknowingly learned to overcompensate my average looks by being smart. I remember having joined beauty pageants as a teen and as a young adult and the common theme when my name was called the winner was that I won because I am the smart one. I overheard one handler tell my aunt that I won because I was "brainy". In my mind I thought "hmmmmm, I did win a beauty pageant and not a quiz bee, right?" Lol I was always on the honor list growing up. I have been an achiever since I was a kid. Then I became an over-achiever. It took me years for me to build my confidence again and accept that yes, I am more smart than beautiful. I am feisty and I can carry a good conversation. Smart is sexy remember? 9. MY CURRENT READ IS A CHRISTMAS NOVEL Did you know that in the Philippines, Christmas season begins in September (start of the 'BER' months)? I have started my own Christmas tradition a few years back. I read novels, books, and journals with a Christmas theme as early as September and go heavy in December. I bought a few books recently and I am looking forward to reading them. 10. WE CAN SAVE THIS FUN FACT 10 WHEN WE FINALLY HAVE OUR FIRST VOICE CALL. I have a lot of other interesting things about me but I would save that for someone who really wants to get to know me. Maybe nine is enough to pique your interest? Or maybe not. Should I make it to ten? "Once you let go of the wheel, you might end up right where you belong."
